Quick answer
The Packager turns the loose dust you carry into capsules and loads them onto a conveyor. It costs $100 and requires the $50 Building Tool first. Place it where you are cleaning, run a belt from its output to the depot intake, and you stop making the walk. It does not collect dust, process it, or increase its value.
ConfirmedThe one-sentence version
What the Packager does
Without a Packager, the loop is: sweep, press Q to pack a capsule, carry it back, deposit it, walk out again. The walking is the majority of the time cost once your brush is decent.
With a Packager, you sweep, walk to the Packager, press E to unload, and watch capsules leave on a belt. You never carry anything to the depot again for that work area.
What it does not do
- It does not collect dust from the ground.
- It does not process dust into Moon Sand or Moonstone.
- It does not increase the value of what you sell.
- It does not work without an outgoing conveyor and a real destination.

Cost and prerequisites
| Item | Price | Why you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Building Tool | $50 | Unlocks the build menu where Logistics structures live. |
| Packager | $100 | The structure itself. Found under Logistics. |
| Conveyor | $0.50 / metre | Carries the capsules. A 30 m run costs $15. |
A minimal working setup is therefore around $165 including a 30 metre belt. That is cheaper than a single Wide Broom, and it changes more.
Watch outIt has no description in game
Step-by-step setup
- Buy the Building Tool ($50) and equip it.
- Open Logistics in the build menu and buy the Packager ($100).
- Place it near where you are actually cleaning — not near the depot. The point is to shorten your walk, so put it where the dust is.
- Rotate it so the output faces the direction of the depot.
- Start a conveyor at its output and extend it toward the depot intake.
- Extend into the receiving area, not merely close to it.
- Sweep a load, walk to the Packager, and press E to unload.
- Watch the capsules leave and confirm your balance increases when they arrive.

Packager vs silo vs walking
| Method | Cost | Best for | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walking | $0 | The first ten minutes | Scales badly; distance dominates |
| Packager | $100 + belt | Manual sweeping near fresh ground | Needs a belt and a destination |
| Silo | Vehicle-side | Receiving vehicle hoppers | Temporary storage only |
| Robot Vacuum dock | $250 | Fixed areas you want fully automated | Stops when its radius is clean |
The pattern that works: Packager for wherever you personally are sweeping, silo for vehicle unloading, Robot Vacuum for areas you never want to touch again.
Why it is not working
Five causes, in order of how often they happen.
- The belt is reversed somewhere. Check direction at every connection, including the first one at the Packager output.
- The belt does not reach the depot intake. Capsules pile up at the end and never sell.
- There is no belt at all. The Packager produces capsules; it does not move them.
- You are pressing the wrong interaction. It is an interact prompt, not an automatic pickup — walk up and press the interaction key.
- An older build bug. Before 1.0.4, machines could pause with "Could not pack a capsule" despite having power and materials. Update the game.
NoteFixed in 1.0.4
Is it worth $100?
Yes, if you are still sweeping manually. It is the cheapest purchase in the game that removes a repeated action rather than speeding one up, and repeated actions are what make the early game feel like work.
No, if you have already moved to a vehicle or a Robot Vacuum. A Packager next to a vacuum dock is redundant — the dock already packs capsules for you.
When to skip it
- You already own a Robot Vacuum covering this area.
- You are about to buy one in the next few minutes.
- Your depot is a five-second walk and you are still on the toothbrush.
